Homemade Granola



Homemade granola is the best, at least in my opinion!  I love granola and I have tried both homemade and store bought granola. Of course, one of the benefits of homemade granola, and probably the reason I love it and why most people would agree it's the best, is because it is fresh and there is probably a psychological factor involved, a bias, in the thought of "I made this!"

One of the first homemade granolas I ate was my Mom's granola. It was fun to watch her make it. Plus, I got to try some after it came out of the oven, still warm and fresh. As a kid, between the ages of 5-10 especially, you tend to be picky about the kinds of food you like. Unless it is sweet, colorful, and high in carbs, it just isn't as desirable to kids. Knowing this now as an adult with kids of my own, I am surpised that my brothers and sisters and I loved eating granola. Kids, and oatmeal, and nuts and fruit, don't necessarily sound like they go together. Regardless of the normal trend in what kids like to eat, my family and I loved my Mom's homemade granola.
